Throwback Thursday: The Dredge Surf Film
With the new Dredge going strong, we wanted to throw it back to 10 years ago when the Dredge made St. Augustine a destination wave….sort of 🙂 Enjoy!
Still waves with 1-2 (occ+) foot waves. Glassy in the morning, then the wind will be onshore SE this afternoon so choppy then
If you make it plain you like people,
it’s hard for them to resist liking you back
Nature is often hidden, sometimes overcome, seldom extinguished.
Amazing day, best one yet
~Chris Ropero when asked about the Single Fin Hoe Down today

DetailsThe New Flyer was out 10 years ago and locals Gabe Kling and Jody Davis put it through it’s test in our local waters:
6:55 am: Similar sized surf starts the day. Wave size 1 to occasionally 2 feet early. It’s semi-glassy to glassy with light WSW winds early. . On our local buoy the early morning wave height reading of 3.0 feet at 12 seconds down from yesterdays 3.9 feet at 11 seconds. The marine forecast calling for early light offshore winds early shift SE this afternoon and increase. The water temperature is measured at 72 degrees at The Pier this morning. And you can see the ocean live by viewing The Surf Station Cam Page here.
.
7:40 am: Early morning photos are up in box #1 with the waves looking knee to thigh high with some possibly larger set waves. It’s glassy withrh light offshore winds. The lines look longer, and this fits with the more spread out groundswell readings on the buoy. So certain sandbars will catch the swell better as many spots will close out with the longer lines. High tide is at 9:51 am so there shoudl be fun waves all the way up to and through high tide today….
